Technical Advice

As an MIC holder, I am available to act as a Technical Advisor for a range of mountain and adventure activities. My extensive experience from working in the outdoors, both as an instructor on the hill and working within various outdoor centres, including Glenmore Lodge, Scotlands National Centre, gives me an in depth understanding of the issues involved in such activities. I can act as a technical advisor in areas such as:

  • Advising Outdoor Education centres in the role as Technical Advisor, set up/evaluate risk assessments, design and write safe operational procedures linked in with the AALS.
  • Advising schools and clubs on safe practice in adventurous activities.
  • Site specific staff training.
  • Charity climbs and abseils.

Television & Film

The Scottish Highlands provide TV and Film makers with an amazing backdrop from high remote peaks to deep glens and gorges. I have recently been involved through Lagganlia Outdoor Centre in Glen Feshie providing activity/set consultation, technical set ups and on the day film safety cover working along side a small team of like minded fully qualified instructors, whether its hill or water based. Having a team of expert instructors who know the area very well, how it works and with hands on set experience is a must when you have tight budgets to keep to.

Recent work -

BBC - Raven

Spring 2010 - Carnaby International & Eigerwand Pictures - A Lonely Place to Die - Filmed just north of Inverness in the area of the Meige gorge. Due for release in Spring 2011. Lots of climbing stuff in this one, should be good!

Winter 2009 - Centurion Films -  Centurion  the movie again part filmed in the Strathspey and Laggan area due to be released later in 2009..... watch this space. Centurion will hopefully be as good or better than the director Neil Marshall's previous films "The Decent" and "Dog Soldiers".

Kevin is also an associate instructor with Mountain and Water Safety Specialists who provide an invaluable service to Television Productions, Film Productions and Stills Photographers who need to work in remote and challenging locations. For further details see
